Authentic Relating & Circling

Last updated 2026-09-21 · updated weekly by an automated research job · run #4.

The verdict

The current state of the art, as of 2026-08-31 (confidence secondary):

The Madison AR/Circling scene centers on Main Street Yoga Center, which hosts a weekly Authentic Relating Games Night and offers Circling & Meditation. The Chicago scene shows greater density with multiple organizers and dedicated community groups.

What triggered or contributed to this call:

• 2026-08-31 — Weekly Authentic Relating Games Night starts at Main Street Yoga Center in Madison. (launch, secondary)
• 2026-08-31 — Facebook group 'Authentic Chicago' serves the local Authentic Relating and Circling community. (discovery, vendor-claim)

Contenders:

• Main Street Yoga Center — Only currently verified recurring AR/Circling event in Madison.
• Authentic Chicago — Central hub for the larger and more established Chicago AR/Circling community.

What this is, and how it works

This page is generated, not written. A scheduled job runs weekly on a machine in a homelab. Each run it:

1. Searches the open web for both the products already tracked here and for category-level terms designed to turn up ones we've never heard of.
2. Feeds those results to a language model along with everything already on this page, and asks it what is genuinely new. Finding nothing is an acceptable answer, and most runs should find little.
3. Writes the result into a versioned JSON dataset (data/live-research/ar-circling.json) and commits it. This page is re-rendered from that file.

So: a machine wrote the prose here. Every changelog entry carries at least one source link, and every item and entry carries a confidence label:

• primary-source — vendor documentation, a published paper, or a regulator.
• secondary — reputable press.
• vendor-claim — marketing or an unreplicated vendor statement.
• unverified — a single low-quality source, usually auto-discovered.

Any label weaker than primary-source is printed beside the finding, so an unflagged row is a primary source. A tracker that hides its own uncertainty is worse than no tracker.

What this is not. Not medical advice. Not a review site — nothing here has been tested in our hands. No affiliate relationships, no sponsored placements, nothing bought. Vendor claims are attributed to the vendor rather than restated as findings. Where a price, a date, or a regulatory status is unknown, it is left blank instead of guessed.

What's new

4 developments in the last 30 days, newest first.

The last 30 days

The last month confirmed a single active local offering in the beat's primary market: Main Street Yoga Center in Madison hosts a weekly Authentic Relating Games Night and a separate "Circling & Meditation" session. This is the only verified, recurring event found in Wisconsin. Searches for groups in Milwaukee returned no relevant results, and "Madison CIRCLE" was confirmed to be a homeschool co-op, unrelated to Circling practice.

The broader regional search turned up two new resources. An interactive global map from Authentic Revolution (confidence: vendor-claim) now provides a directory, though it currently shows no Wisconsin groups. An active Facebook group for Authentic Relating Minneapolis was also discovered, indicating a scene in a neighboring Midwestern state.

In the secondary/comparison market of Chicago, the landscape remains stable with several known organizers: Chicago Social Butterflies lists a Queer Men's Authentic Relating Games event, The Connection Movement hosts Connection Labs, and the "Authentic Chicago" Facebook group serves as a community hub. No new Chicago groups or significant changes were reported.

For a reader in Madison, the Main Street Yoga Center is the sole local option. For those in Milwaukee or seeking a Wisconsin-wide scene, there is effectively nothing to spend money or attention on. The newly found Minneapolis group is the closest active regional community outside of Chicago.

The last year

The most significant development in the last year is the emergence of a weekly, in-person Authentic Relating practice in Madison, WI. According to its event listing, Main Street Yoga Center began hosting a weekly Authentic Relating Games Night in May 2025, and its website also advertises a separate "Circling & Meditation" practice. This is the only verified, recurring event found within the primary Wisconsin beat. In contrast, searches for similar groups in Milwaukee returned no relevant results, with hits pointing only to a tourism organization and a special needs support group. A promising lead for a group called "Madison CIRCLE" was definitively ruled out as a secular homeschool cooperative, unrelated to this scene.

The broader regional picture shows activity concentrated in neighboring metro areas, though all information remains at the vendor-claim level. An "Authentic Relating Minneapolis" Facebook group was discovered, presenting as an active community space. Chicago, tracked as a comparison market, shows a more developed ecosystem with multiple organizers: "Authentic Chicago" is a community Facebook group, "Chicago Social Butterflies" lists a Queer Men's Authentic Relating Games event, and "The Connection Movement" hosts "Connection Labs" for social interaction.

A new resource for finding groups, the Authentic Revolution "Communities Map," was cataloged. This interactive map claims to list global Authentic Relating and Circling communities, but its utility for the local beat is currently limited; no Wisconsin groups are visible on it.

For someone in Madison looking to participate, the Main Street Yoga Center offers a concrete, weekly option. For those in Milwaukee, there is no evidence of any local practice group. The scene remains sparse and fragmented across the upper Midwest, with Chicago representing the nearest hub of multiple offerings. All information about these groups comes from their own promotional materials or social media pages; there are no independent reports, trial data, or attendance figures to assess their quality or longevity.

The ones that mattered:

• 2026-09-07 — Madison CIRCLE Co-op confirmed as a secular homeschool cooperative, unrelated to AR/Circling. (negative, secondary)
• 2026-09-07 — Searches for AR/Circling groups in Milwaukee return no relevant results. (negative, unverified)
• 2026-08-31 — Weekly Authentic Relating Games Night starts at Main Street Yoga Center in Madison. (launch, secondary)

All time

The Wisconsin-centered conscious community scene, particularly for Authentic Relating (AR) and Circling, is nascent but showing its first structured offerings. Madison now has a weekly anchor: Main Street Yoga Center hosts an Authentic Relating Games Night every Sunday at 7 PM, which started in May 2025. This is a concrete, recurring event, though its ongoing attendance and format are unverified. The same venue also lists a 'Circling & Meditation' practice on its website (a vendor claim), blending mindfulness with AR basics, suggesting an effort to integrate these modalities into a traditional wellness center model. Outside of this, there is no tracked activity for Milwaukee or the wider Wisconsin region—the scene is functionally Madison-only at this point.

Chicago, as the comparison market, shows what "active" looks like: a diffuse ecosystem of small organizers rather than a single hub. Events are niche and sporadic. Chicago Social Butterflies lists a Queer Men's Authentic Relating Games event (a vendor claim), indicating a trend toward affinity-group gatherings. The Connection Movement runs 'Connection Labs' (another vendor claim), described as low-pressure interactive social events. A Facebook group, 'Authentic Chicago,' exists as a community platform, but its activity level is unverified. The absence of large, established weekly circles or prominent touring facilitators in the tracked items suggests the Chicago scene is fragmented into small, self-organized pockets.

What does not work, or is absent, is telling. There are no dedicated Circling schools or intensive group offerings in the beat area. There is no evidence of paid professional facilitators building a sustainable practice here; events appear hosted by wellness centers or social organizers as one offering among many. No events in Milwaukee are tracked, marking a significant gap for the region's largest city. For someone deciding where to spend attention, Madison's weekly AR Games are the only reliable entry point. Chicago offers more variety but requires digging through disparate listings. The overall picture is of a fringe activity slowly entering the mainstream wellness and alternative social scene, not yet a standalone field.

Open questions

Publishing what we don't know is the point. These are things the job is actively watching for; when one gets answered it becomes a changelog entry and moves down here to the answered list.

No open questions recorded. Either everything we wanted to know got answered, or nobody has written down what we don't know — the second is more likely on a young tracker.

Answered:

• What AR or Circling groups are currently active in Madison, WI, who facilitates them, and what is the cadence and cost? — answered 2026-08-31.
• What AR or Circling groups are currently active in Milwaukee, WI, who facilitates them, and what is the cadence and cost? — answered 2026-09-07.
• What does an established AR/Circling scene look like in Chicago — number of active groups, typical cadence, typical drop-in price — as a comparison point for the Wisconsin scene? — answered 2026-08-31.
